Well, I have been an avid bolt action enthusiast since I can remember. I never really had the urge to own an AR until recently. I don't know why, but all of a sudden I feel the need to build one haha. So far I have just basic parts. I can't really move forward at the moment as I'm waiting for my tax stamps to come in :( Anyway, here are all the parts I'm using. I wonder if someone can pickup on what I'm trying to emulate here... Also, as I'm new to building ARs, could you gentlemen please review my parts to ensure what I have will work, and work well. If you have any advise on better parts please let me know. I am trying to keep this little (very little actually as the rifle will have a 7.5 barrel and a PDW stock) project under $4k though.

And if you can't figure out what I'm going for yet, this should help.

Can anyone offer any insight please? I feel like everything is of decent quality and will work good together, but like I said I don't know much about ARs.

Everything I saw looks to be good quality parts, some of the links wouldn't work for me right now, mostly the Brownells.
I'm not totally sold on billet uppers and lowers yet......all the data says forged is still stronger but then they don't look as cool.
I was just looking at that PDW stock earlier today, if I understand correctly it comes with a special bolt carrier that allows it to function with the extra short tube, you might only need the bolt instead of the whole Spikes BCG. Wish I could have a stock on my shorty, :banghead: , guess I'll have to deal with the Sig "brace" and call it a pistol..........

That's good to know, thanks for looking it over. One thing I didn't think about, will I be alright to run a suppressor on a 7.5" barreled .300 blackout?? I hope it's safe. The QD suppressor/brake combos are freagin expensive! Also, the PDW stock I'm getting doesn't require a special BCG. I emailed the company and they are about to put some more out for sale, but they will go quick!

Here is the stock I'm getting compared to the stock you mentioned.

Also, the rifle should be over 26" correct? Even with the 7.5" barrel and PDW stock collapsed? It would suck to have to wait for a 3rd tax stamp...

Anyway, if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm going for the AAC honey Badger look/feel.

That'll be a snappy looking rig! Maybe it's a good thing I can't have SBR's or suppressors here in Iowa.....I'd be broke AND divorced!
I should think a suppressor would be safe....worst case you might need an adjustable gas block. I'm sure the suppressor dealer can give you some solid info there.

Thank you sir, I'm certainly ready to get this thing done. I put getting a Mini 14 to the way side until I get this little rascal done. One thing I might do is mold a rubber butt pad for the PDW stock. Casual shooting wouldn't be bad, but I bet a full range season would tenderize your shoulder pretty good haha. That sucks you can't own anything fun! Here in IN we just legalized the use for hunting with suppressors and can now use a .223 to hunt deer.

Thank you sir, I did some rough calculations in my head, with the suppressor installed on the 7.5" barrel and the PDW stock all the way extended, the rifle will be around 31 3/4" long. Man, will I need to register this as an AOW???

Wait... SBRs don't fall under the "must be 26" long" rule... my brain is still fried from the new year

Oh, here are the specs for the real Honey Badger

Weight 6.5 lb (2.9 kg) (unloaded)
Length
24 in (61 cm) (fully retracted with silencer)
29 in (74 cm) (fully extended with silencer)
Barrel length 6 in (15 cm)

I should be very, very close to those specs
