FML.
In the pursuit of useful things to enhance my experiences, I was in the market for some boots and gun cleaning stuff.
While I've settled on the choice of items, I like to have "in hand" before buying. In the case of boots, I like to try 'em on.
I looked everywhere local within a thirty-forty minute drive. Nada.
Finally deciding to take a roadtrip to Cabella's. Surely, they have the boots and stuff.
Nope.
One pair of boots in a size that isn't me and only D-widths in sizes that are me.
Bore brushes and the other cleaning gear I'm looking for? I figured C's has to have an adequate selection, right?
Wrong.
Hello, online shopping.
My wife thinks I suffer from some condition that compels me to be different, to the extent that my choices are outside the norm of people's general affects. I call BS. I just want what appears to be a better product than the crap that most sheeple are satisfied with purchasing/using.
If you have a ten dollar head, wear a ten dollar helmet. My feet and my newest firearm purchase are well worth spending hundreds on to protect them. Apparently, the consumer market couldn't care less.
All is not lost. I did go home with a Pelican 1750. Not this journey's purpose, but...
All I really wanted was a pair of boots. :banghead:
With 13 EEEE's most my shoe and boot shopping is online. Might try New Balance web site. They have a wide width selection. What brand are you looking for?
I have the same issue with boots, maybe I have odd size feet but I think it is more to do with a lack of inventory compared to years gone by. I agree, when you're putting out a couple hundred bucks you want to try them on!
I did finally find a store that carried the extra wides I needed, a Red Wing store. Lots of stores sell Red Wings but they only stocked the most common sizes while the actual Red Wing store had them all.
Good luck on your quest! :usa:
I'm 6'1 and 165 lbs. I wear 16 X 35 shirts, 32 X 36 jeans and 10.5 B boots. Wrangler and Justin did me proud for years, but now most Wragler shirts are just S, M, L, and Justin has dropped widths except D in all their boots except Ropers.
When my current wardrobe wears out I'll be easy to spot: I'll be the guy with the long sleeve shirt that only goes down to mid forearm, the ankle length jeans and the too wide tennis shoes!
I've been a jungle boot guy for decades. Lightweight, fit well, gets wet on purpose, protects from potential punctures...what wasn't to like?
Anymore, quality...it's suffering.
